How Can You Help Our Effort PDF Print E-mail

If this family's story has touched you in any way, and you would like to help in our effort, please continue to see how.

1.   Donations:

First and foremost, this effort is completely funded through donations. Before donating, realize that donations may not be tax deductible (I have sent in the IRS form to request that donations be deductible, but that may take up to 8 weeks before I find out. Once I've heard from the IRS, I will post if donations are deductible). Also, donations larger than $10,000 (though I wouldn't expect anything that large), would be subject to gift taxes.

I've set up two ways to donate right from this site. First (and preferred since there aren't fees), if you have a checking account, you can either click E-Check Donations module on the right side of this page, or click here, and you can transfer donations directly from your checking account. This has the advantage that 100% of your donation will go toward helping this family (there are no fees for checking account transfers using this module thanks to iTransact). There is no minimum for E-check transfers. Feel free to donate what you want using this method.

You can also donate via Paypal using your bank account, credit card, or funds in your Paypal account already. To donate  using Paypal, use the "Donate Via Paypal" module on the right of the site. The smallest donation via Paypal is $10. Do realize that Paypal charges a minimum of 30 cents, plus about 3% for each transaction, this is why the $10 minimum donation if you use Paypal (30 cents of $1.00 is a much higher percentage than 30 cents from $10).

If you would rather, you can send donations via the U.S. postal system also avoiding transaction fees. Mail donations to:

The Grace Foundation For Utah 2007
            1410 North 780 West
            Lehi, UT 84043

However you donate, please make sure you let us know how to display your name on the "Donors List" on this site. If using Paypal or E-check, I will post your name as it appears on your Paypal or iTransact email that I receive. If you prefer to be listed as anonymous, email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and let me know how exactly you want your information displayed on this site under the donors list (if you don't send the email, your name will be listed as it was received). If you send a check, please note on either the check, or a separate note how you want your information to appear on the donors list. Make sure to include you name, state, and city. If you wish to be anonymous, please let us know that also. Your name should appear on the list within a few days after receiving your donation. However, please be patient. Realize that I work full time, and am only doing this on the side.

NEW!!! (As of 11/28/2007):

I've had several people mention that they have left over construction materials (i.e. studs, drywall, nails, screws) and wanted to know if those items would be useful in our effort. For sure those would be useful!! If you have such items left over from a remodel or construction project, and live in either Utah or Salt Lake valleys, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , and I will  contact you to make arrangements. Thanks for your many suggestion.

New !!! (As of 12/07/07):

Also, realize that when I started this, my thought was that we could hopefully receive 10,000 to 20,000 $5 to $10 donations which would be plenty to complete anything we needed. Please don't be intimidated as you look through the donor's list by the larger donations. Realize that the first donors are those who are closest to either Steve and Teresa, or myself. For the cost of one or two fast food meals ($5 to $10), if we could get enough donors, we could make a huge difference. Which takes me to the very next point. I need your help to gain exposure. Please read below for ideas how.

2.    Let Others Know:

Just as important as donations, is letting others know about this effort. Since I'm looking for smaller donations ($5 and $10 donations), I need to get this website seen by about 200,000 to 400,000 people who will be willing to donate! That's a lot of people! The easiest way to spread the word is via email. Simply email everyone in your address book with a personal message, followed by a link to www.homemakeoveraf.com (you can copy and paste from the link to that immediately preceded).

I have also provided a couple of others ways to spread the word. I've often gotten flyers placed on my car while parked in parking lots at stores. I made a ready made car flyer that you can print, cut out, and put on cars in parking lots. Click here to download this form. I also thought it would be wise to have a business card sized flyer that you could personally hand to people. Click here to download business cards. If you hand out significant business cards, or place car flyers, please let me know how many you placed, where you placed them, and where you handed them out so I can post your efforts on this site as well. Email your efforts to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

3.   Your Suggestions, Feedback:

You've seen my ideas about how to spread the word and raise money, if you have any ideas that you think would help in the effort, please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Also, let us know how you found us by taking the polls on the right side of the site. That helps us focus on stratagies that work best.

4.   Construction, Web Help:

If you want to offer help as a contractor, or in construction in any other way, that would also be helpful. I'm especially looking for a general contractor who would be willing to head he project, especially if you'd be willing to discount your services on this one. Also, I'm pretty much an amateur web hoster and designer, so if you know php coding or html coding, your help would also be useful. If you want to help in any of these capacities, please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

5.   Media:

If you are connected with the media in any way (i.e. newspaper, television, radio, etc.), and you think that this effort would make a good story, please refrain from giving any media coverage at this time. If you would be interested in covering this story as it progresses, please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .
